Kristin L. Williams, D.V.M.
|
Starting June 2, 2008 we are please to have Dr. Kristin Williams join our team of veterinarians. Kristin grew up in central Connecticut before moving to New Hampshire in 1992 as an undergraduate at Dartmouth College. She graduated from Dartmouth in 1996 with a B.A. and double major in Economics and Sociology. After working as a financial/management analyst in New Hampshire for the next four years, she moved back to Connecticut to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She returned to school at the University of Connecticut as a post-baccalaureate student to complete her veterinary school pre-requisites while working at a local vet clinic in Essex, CT to support her and several animals. She was admitted to Tufts-Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in the autumn of 2004 and graduated in May 2008.
Kristin’s focus at Tufts has been on general equine veterinary medicine, serving as President of the Tufts Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). Kristin grew up with a love for horses, volunteering her time on farms in Connecticut wherever possible in order to obtain riding privileges and learning opportunities. She was finally able to get her own horse after graduating from college; she hopes to compete someday in endurance or competitive trail riding.
While in veterinary school, Kristin served with Dr. David Hernke as a committee leader to help raise money for the Tufts Travis fund; this fund provides financial assistance for small animals and their owners to help pay for unmet needs. Kristin volunteered as a foster home caretaker for animals through the local MSPCA (Mass Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), and provided grief counseling for veterinary school clients through the Tufts Pet Loss Support Hotline. She has helped to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation to support breast cancer research by participating with her horse in the annual “Ride for the Cure” out of Pomfret, CT.
